Instruction

Students enrolled in the Environmental Horticulture program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology have the unique
opportunity to become a part of a built-in, tight-knit network of horticulturists.  The program operates under the co-hort style of education.  Students follow the same classmates and instructor all the way through to graduation.  With over 35 years of combined teaching experience, our faculty team, consisting of Don Marshall and Chris Smith, are highly respected involved members of the industry.  Both educate in a style oriented towards a technical education with classes that include a significant hands-on component.  Classes include field trips, guest speakers and experiential learning. Unparalleled program experiences include: student-run plant sales, stewardship of the study arboretum, industry work experiences, and working alongside designers to set up the annual Northwest Flower and Garden Show.

Degrees

Students can earn an Associates of Applied Sciences or a Certificate of Proficiency in Environmental Horticulture.  Core horticulture classes for either degree can be completed in four quarters.  For more information on program requirements for earning a degree visit the official Lake Washington Institute of Technology website.
