POSITION: PARKS DEPARTMENT LABORER JOB #: 12-13
Seasonal position with no opportunity for permanent employment.
CLOSES: Open until filled.
SALARY: $ 12.44 - $13.06 per hour. No benefits.
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
Five Month temporary position or as needed to assist full time staff in the following job duties as assigned by the Parks Manager.
Must have the ability and interest to perform outdoor maintenance in all kinds of weather. Previous grounds maintenance experience desirable but not required.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Applicant must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Litter and trash removal throughout the city park system.
Janitorial cleaning and maintenance.
Grounds keeping tasks such as: mowing, edging, line trimming, pruning, raking
and brush cutting.
Assist with Cemetery grounds maintenance which includes mowing, trimming,
raking, weeding and painting. Assistance with funerals and burials as needed.
Maintenance of our flower program which includes: planting, weeding, watering
and shift changes.
Assist in irrigation, plumbing, painting, sanding and structural repairs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicant must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and be at least 18
years of age.
Possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license.
Driving abstract required (see below).
Have experience in some of the above listed job duties and physical ability to perform these duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform physical labor including:
Bending, squatting and kneeling.
Redundant and sometimes strenuous activities and duties.
Lifting heavy objects (50 lbs.).
Outdoor work in all types of weather and conditions.
Must be able to push, carry and pull.
Must be able to safely drive a City vehicle and obey all traffic laws.
Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
Must be able to see and hear to perform the essential functions of the job.
Requires reaching overhead and above shoulders.
Requires the ability to shovel, dig, or other physical labor.
